Charge of the Light Brigade

The Charge of the Light Brigade was a disastrous charge of British cavalry led by Lord Cardigan against Russian forces during the Battle of Balaclava on 25 October 1854 in the Crimean War. The phrase "C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas la guerre", which is the motto of Pirate Prenctice, as specified at Beyond the Zero: Episode 21, was uttered by the French Marshal, Pierre Bosquet. Literally it means "It is magnificent, but it is not war" and represents an inability to grasp the horrors of modern warfare.
